Bombus Speedshop
Wrenchin' without supervision since the seventies...

Tuesday, June 30, 2026

Yesterday was all about getting a feel for the build – soaking in the "ergonomics" and the vibe right out in the open with Crocs.

Since the project hasn't claimed its permanent garage spot yet, I spent the evening driveway cruising. Just sitting there and looking out over the lines against the horizon.

There is almost no trans tunnel to speak of, so it’s going to eat into the cockpit space a bit,
but the length is actually perfectly fine.

It looks about half scale, but it will be great.

A New Journey Begins: Bombus Doblo

A new journey has appeared on the horizon.

It’s time to blend classic Swedish iron with vintage Italian lines.
The foundation is set with a solid Volvo Duett frame, but the real magic happens on top.
For this project, I’ve managed to source one of my all-time favorite silhouettes:
Fiat Topolino.
The Duett frame in all its glory

And the beautiful Topolino body

Time flies...

It’s been almost three years since the last update. Did nothing happen in the speedshop during that time? Far from it. Plenty has happened, but the motivation to blog simply wasn’t there. This winter was spent doing a complete overhaul of the Chevy's front end. Ironically, the modifications initially made things worse, and smaller tires ended up being the final fix. The result? A much better stance and absolutely no rubbing. I'm calling that a win.
